In Unity We Drum will be doing a drumming session at 15:10 at the Mind-Body-Spirit Expo. Raquel Lopes will also be exhibiting if you have questions about her drumming sessions and workshops. Please see all information below.
Raquel Lopes is an avid djembe drummer, percussionist and drumming and percussion facilitator who truly believes in the power of drumming and that literally anyone and everyone can benefit from the healing rhythm of drums. Her business In Unity We Drum hosts monthly community drum circles in and around Gauteng and in Nelspruit from time to time. She also provides entertainment, workshops and facilitations for private functions from weddings to kids parties as well as schools and the corporate sector.
“As adults we have forgotten how to play. Drumming connects us to the child inside as well as gives us the space to let our hair down and feel accepted, if the world could start off its days with a community drumming session, it would be a better place”, says Raquel. Join a drumming circle today and find your rhythm
Beating rhythm into peoples lives since 2008, Raquel has 9 years experience of hosting and facilitating drumming events and performances. Hosting many shows and events around the Lowveld and now Gauteng, she is passionate about what she does and is eager to ignite your rhythmic passion too!
An opportunity for participants to discover their own musical potential, everyone at the event (willing) will receive an instrument, from bells shakers and bass drums, to djembes and tambourines, Raquel will then facilitate their musical potential through different grooves and techniques.
No experience is necessary and you will find yourself addicted from the first beat. Alot of fun, interactive and unifying, where everyone’s instrument is a voice on its own and brings its part to the circle/event as any persons voice would in any close community.
Drumming is a universal language, and when we allow ourselves to submit to the moment, we find alot of release from our daily tensions and healing takes place. It bridges the gaps that society creates for us and its a space where everyone feels free and safe.
Having move to Gauteng recently Raquel often co facilitates ceremonies and journeys with the use of sound and chanting. Assisting to provide a safe and loving space for people to process on their journeys.
I look forward to drumming with you
